Jason Ray Biography-Jason Jonathan Roy (born 21 July 1990) is a South African-born English cricketer who has played for England in One Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) cricket. In domestic cricket, he has represented Surrey and has played in several Twenty20 leagues in the Indian Premier League, including the Gujarat Lions, Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Born in South Africa, Roy moved to England as a child. He made his T20I debut in 2014, his ODI debut in 2015, and played for the Test team in 2019. He was part of the England squad that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
Roy plays as a right-handed opening batsman. He holds England’s highest ODI score (180 against Australia on England’s 2018 tour, ,  and England’s record for highest ODI partnership with Alex Hales: 256 * against Sri Lanka on England tour in 2016. 3] He is the first batsman in T20 history. Roy took the A-level exam at Sports Science and Business in 2008 and was offered a place at St. Mary’s University College, although he turned down the opportunity to concentrate on cricket. On October 7, 2017, Roy married Eli Moore. They had their first child in March 2019.  On 5 January 2022, the couple welcomed their second child. He is the cousin of Dutch-international cricketer Shane Schneider.
He played three matches for the Gujarat Lions in the 2017 IPL. He played for the Delhi Daredevils for the 2018 IPL, for which he won a match 91 * in his first match. In the 2020 IPL auction, he was bought by Delhi Capitals before the 2020 Indian Premier League. On 27 August 2020, Roy withdrew from the 2020 Indian Premier League due to personal reasons and was eventually replace by Australian all-rounder Daniel Sams.
He was release by Delhi Capitals before the 2021 auction. Prior to the 2021 Indian Premier League, Mitchell Marsh was sign by Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the 2022 IPL auction, Roy was bought by the Gujarat Titans. However, he later withdrew from the 2022 IPL before the start of the tournament, citing the challenge of staying in the bubble of the tournament for a long time.

In September 2008, Roy was select for the ECB Elite Player Development Squat by participating in a triangular tournament against University Sport South Africa and Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Universities. Roy was select for two of his team’s four matches. In his first match, against University Sport South Africa, Roy batted at number four but was able to score only one run. University innings, which was bowl by Roy.
In 2008, Roy won the Easter Scholarship for spending the 2008/2009 winter at Darren Lehmann Academy in Adelaide. While in Australia, Roy also played club cricket for the Port Adelaide Cricket Club, and was part of the winning team in the XXXX Gold Grade 20/20 competition, scoring 20 off 12 balls in the final at the Adelaide Oval. This was the club’s first win in the competition.
In April 2009, Roy played in a pre-season match for Fertilizer against Leeds / Bradford University Center of Cricket Excellence. Batting at number five, Roy was bowl out for zero in the first innings of Surrey, but perform better with the ball in hand, taking 2 for 51 in five overs.
